Top Ten YA Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read

Top Ten Books Haven't ReadTop Ten Tuesday: Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Sometimes I see people talking about a book and I'm just like, HOW HAVE I STILL NOT READ THIS YET. I have plans to read most of these books. At some point. I own three of these already, and I own the sequel to Cinder even though I don't own Cinder yet. Oops.

And actually I own like two copies of The Book Thief and I got about a third of the way through it once but it didn't seem like my type of book at that time. That was years ago though, back when I was like 13 or so? I can't remember. That book came out so long ago.

So anyway, here is a list of ten very hyped and well-loved books that I have just somehow not got round to reading, but I will try to one day read them all!

Yay, glad to hear you loved The Winner's Curse. There was honestly so much hype for it last year, I bought a copy but I still haven't managed to get round to it. But I definitely will!

  1. Really interesting list! :)

Both Throne of Glass and The Book Theif are books that I really want to read as well. I feel like everyone out there has read them, and that I'm missing out on something really awesome! I actually own both of those books, but I just haven't picked them up yet - but I really need to!

I've read Cinder and really enjoyed it, so I would definitely recommend that one! It's such and interesting take on the classic fairy tale, and the world was pretty darn awesome.

YEAH I KNOW. I own Throne of Glass and The Book Thief as well. I'M GONNA READ THEM EVENTUALLY. It's just hard to get over the fact that I tried to read The Book Thief so many years ago but failed. :P

  2. I'm going to yell at you for a couple of books :D

Cinder: this series showed me that I can enjoy sci-fi. It's so unique and the characters are so fleshed out. You are missing out here!
Throne of glass: assassins. Touch of romance. Amazing, strong characters. And the series gets better with every new installment.
The raven boys: such a colorful cast :D
Graceling: the second book was my favorite one in the series, but strong female characters!
The book thief: OH PLEASE OH PLEASE. This is one of my favorite books EVER. It's beautiful.

Yeah, I heard complains about the last book of Divergent especially, I think? I dunno. I am kinda not really into dystopian YA anymore so I may never end up reading Divergent.

I think out of this list I'm most excited about reading Cinder! Everyone just says it's so amazing and it really seems like something I'd absolutely love.

  3. Don't worry, I haven't read most of these books either, although I consider myself a primarily YA reader! I did enjoy Cinder, Throne of Glass, Divergent, and The Winner's Curse, though. Coincidentally I finished the latter last night, and I would definitely recommend it! The prose engaged me, and I loved Kestrel and the world Rutkoski built in general. Enjoy your reads:)

Oooh I'm glad to hear you enjoyed The Winner's Curse so much! :D I'm also primarily a YA reader but I basically stopped reading books for a few years from about 2010 until early last year, so I've missed out on a lot of books and haven't had that much time to catch up yet. THERE ARE TOO MANY GOOD BOOKS TO READ.

  4. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE. READ CINDER. READ THE BOOK THIEF. I DON'T CARE THAT YOUR 13 YEAR OLD SELF DIDN'T LIKE IT YOU ARE A DIFFERENT PERSON NOW READ IT GO. AND LOVE IT.

No pressure or anything. HA. SAME WITH CODE NAME VERITY COME ON NOW.

  5. I completely understand you. Different people have different tastes and just because a book is popular does not mean that everyone who reads it will love it or that everyone will want to read it. For example, I have never read and never plan to read The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Divergent trilogy. I know, I know, but they just don't interest me. And yet, I'm still going to yell at you for not reading some of these books because I am apparently a hypocrite bookworm. :D

Cinder, The Book Thief and Code Name Verity are all books that I largely recommend. I recommend Cinder for its uniqueness and the fabulously complex world that Marissa Meyer created, The Book Thief for the feels and a really unique writing style, and Code Name Verity for the friendship, the characters and the feels. You must read them all now!

I do plan to read all these books eventually, except for maaaaybe Divergent and Legend because dystopian YAs are largely not my thing anymore. I'm really really excited about reading Cinder eventually! I'm pretty sure I will absolutely adore the Lunar Chronicles like everyone else.

I will do it Cayce I will read Steelheart!! I know, I really want to read it but I have to say when I read Kindle preview it just didn't really grab me so I've been putting it off for ages. But I'm sure I'll like it a lot once I get more into it. And everyone is saying Firefight is really good as well! :D
