  1. Thank you for tagging me! (:

I love the RDJ and Jude Law Sherlock Holmes adaptations as well. They are just so much fun! Also, I just started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and it's really hilarious - I'm loving it!

YAY I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE WATCHING BROOKLYN NINE-NINE BECAUSE BROOKLYN NINE-NINE IS SO FUNNY AND WONDERFUL and it's also full of really sweet moments as well. I love it so much. It's the highlight of my week, haha.

  2. BIG HERO 6 IS WAY TOO AMAZING. I seriously will cry AGAIN the next time I watch it.

How do you not like olives? And peppers?? SHAME.

Age. Of. Ultron. The sole reason to not totally skip May! I told my boyfriend that I wasn’t allowed to die until 2020 after all these new movies came out. THERE IS NO WAY I’M MISSING THEM.

I don't know KAYLA I DON'T KNOW. I REALLY WANT TO LIKE OLIVES BUT I JUST DON'T. I don't mind peppers once they're cooked soft and when they're put in something like a sauce or a soup, but when they're still raw and crunchy I'm just... ugh. *shudder*

      Hahaha YES.

  3. Melanie (YA Midnight Reads)

Ooh this was really interesting to read! Bleh yeah, I HATE bony fish. It's too troublesome to eat. <.<

    1. Post author

Right?? My grandparents are constantly complaining about how I'm really bad at eating fish because I'm terrified of bones. They're obsessed with constantly trying to make me eat fish. Apparently when I was younger I was actually really good at eating bony fish and I wasn't scared of the bones at all?? BUT THEN I GREW UP AND BECAME TERRIFIED. Haha, I'm such a disappointing kid.

  4. Hahah I was wondering where this post went! here it is! HAHAH WHY ARE YOU CALLED PIG? And yay Howl's Moving Castle! Gah I still haven't watched Big Hero 6 because NO ONE WOULD WATCH IT WITH ME! So sad.

Awesome tag CYNTHIA! And no one wants to do work HA

I DON'T KNOW, VAL. I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M CALLED PIG. I think it's apparently a thing that some traditional families in Hong Kong (/China?) do. They call their kids the names of various farm animals when the kids are young? I can't remember why though. But anyway, THEY JUST NEVER STOPPED DOING THAT TO ME EVEN THOUGH I'M 21 NOW. It's terribly embarrassing.

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE IS THE BEST EVER. I watched it so many times when I was 11. I was so obsessed with the movie.

No, I really don't want to do work. ): Mehhhh this essay is taking forever.

  5. ANOTHER NAME IS JELLYFISH WHAT THE HECK HOW DARE YOU FORGET ONE OF YOUR MOST FABULOUS NICKNAMES. But oh my gosh, I like Pig, too. It's cute! My nicknames were Lil' Lesley (because Big Leslie was my dad), Bambita (pretty sure it's actually just 'bambina', but my mom called me that anyways and my brother was Bambito, and Butterfingers because I dropped everything. Only Lil' Lesley has survived, but even then it's only when my mom calls out for my dad and I answer to it and she'll say "No, I was talking to Big Lesley."

AND UPPPPPPPP! THAT MOVIE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES, IT'S SO CUTE AND SWEET AND HEARTWARMING AND AHHHHH. And I plan on watching Elementary! As well as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, but I'm super lazy with things like that, so it may take a while >_< Ooh, and thank you for tagging me :D

How has your life been going, thooughh? I've been so busy with school -- but I also found this little old lady to visit so that's been really fun!

    1. Post author

OH YES OF COURSE HOW COULD I FORGET!! Jellyfish is the best nickname.

Pig is not cute. >___> I used to protest when I was a kid that it actually meant 'pearl' because they 'pig' and 'pearl' sound the same in Cantonese and I insisted that I was called 'Pearl' because I was precious. HAHAHA. Awwww that's so cute! LIL LESLEY AND BIG LESLEY.

UP! IS SO GREAT ISN'T IT. I CRIED SO MUCH WHEN I FIRST SAW IT. WAAAAAH. I just love grandparent/grandkid-type relationships and FOUND FAMILY so ahhhhh best movie ever. ELEMENTARY IS THE BEST. WATCH IT. It kind of annoys me that everyone just constantly goes on and on about the BBC version of Sherlock but nobody seems to know about the wonderful thing that is Elementary. It's much better in my opinion and it's not horribly sexist and racist like the BBC version of Sherlock can be at times. But anyway. I really should watch Game of Thrones as well. Or more importantly, read it. But it's so loooong.

My life has been okay! I've been very busy as well, in the past four days I've managed to write two 2,000-word essays and move to self-hosted and do a new blog design. I'M EXHAUSTED. I just want to sit down and relax for a while and read a book but I already gotta start working on my next essay. Oxfoooord. x____x (Although never mind my essay, I'll probably just procrastinate and read a book anyway.)

OOOH AN OLD LADY. What's she like? :D

  6. No idea how I missed this post, but thanks so much for tagging me! I've been dying to be tagged, hehe.

Haha, Asian families take pride in giving derogatory names to their children. It's how we show affection. :') Pig isn't so bad; my mom calls my sisters and I "useless idiots" like half the time, but we've gotten used to it so it doesn't really bother us anymore. And for some reason the nickname "Cynth" reminds me of "Cinder" -- cool-sounding. ;)

RDJ's and Jude Law's bromance is just precious. I think I've only seen both the films once, but I agree, they were good. AND THE MUSIC. Hans Zimmer just never fails to impress. Speaking of Sherlock, do you watch the TV series? The one with Ben Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman? I've heard that one is fantastic too, but I've only seen one episode, so I haven't really witnessed its awesomeness yet, lol. Cumberbatch delivers his lines so well, though! He does make a great Sherlock!

Okay, kind of ashamed that I haven't read ANY of the four books you mentioned... and I've only heard of Pantomime on that list. *hides* But it looks really good, and Lesley (who has fabulous taste, btw) recommended it, so I plan on checking it out, too. Glad to see that you enjoyed it as well. :D

I'D RATHER BE CURLING UP WITH A GOOD BOOK RIGHT NOW, TOO. Or catching up on my anime. I'm supposed to be analyzing Saint Augustine's The City of God to get into a uni's honors course and IT IS KILLING ME. The English is so freaking long-winded and I can't understand most of what I'm reading. And I'm supposed to analyze this shit. And then discuss it with professors after that. Someone... help...

Celery in general is just gross, really. :P

Ooh, sounds like you're going to have an awesome 2015! I've always wanted to go to NYC and experience "real city life" (haha), and EEEE HP THEME PARK IN ORLANDO CYNTHIA YOU LUCKY DUCK; you better take lots of pictures or I'm coming after you. *squints eyes*

Anyways, thanks again for the tag! I'll try to get this up soon... if my uni work doesn't kill me first. D:

It's just a little weird that they still call me Pig when I'm 21. Like, will they ever stop??? WILL I BE LIKE 50 AND MY MUM WILL STILL BE CALLING ME PIG?? Haha. Everyone at my old school called me Cynth, but then I got to uni and everyone just calls me Cynthia here. It's very strange.

AHHHHH YES THE HANS ZIMMER SOUNDTRACK TO THE SHERLOCK HOLMES MOVIES!!! It's so exquisite. I love it. I, uh, saw the first film four times in the cinema. And I've seen it like, three or four times since. I'm pretty obsessed. The first film was a lot better than the second in my opinion, but they could probably make like ten of those movies and I'd still watch them all.

Okay, so you definitely didn't ask for me to dive into a long rant, so I'll try to keep this short, but BBC SHERLOCK. I used to love the show after the first season and I thought Cumberbatch was AMAZING was Sherlock, even though I thought the second episode was pretty racist. But after the second season I began to feel really disillusioned with the show. I used to be a Doctor Who fan as well but I also stopped watching that. I feel like both shows started to get really problematic and sexist at times under Steven Moffat's lead, and what really killed BBC Sherlock for me was that the portrayal of Irene Adler. UGH. I know you haven't watched the whole thing, so you probably wouldn't know why, but yeah. I was sad and disappointed, because I really did like it at first but then it just got too much for me. So there you have it. I tend to see most people on the book blogosphere just flail about how awesome it is, but I came from an area of Tumblr where we'd all stopped watching BBC Sherlock because we found it too problematic, haha. This is in no way to stop you from watching it and liking it! I don't have anything against people who like the show, because I used to like it too and it's obviously okay to like problematic things because most things are problematic in some way, lbr. (I will freely admit that the RDJ and Jude Law adaptations are also problematic, but I still love them!) Buuuut I have to say, if you haven't seen Elementary you MUST give it a go. It is so much better than Sherlock in my opinion and they have PoC and female characters front and centre and it may still be problematic occasionally but it definitely tries a lot harder than BBC Sherlock! I also just like the writing of the show a lot better. IT GIVES ME SO MANY FEELS.

Okay I have too many feelings about various Sherlock Holmes adaptations hahahaha please don't mind me.

IT'S OKAY. I live to try and make people read slightly more obscure books!! Haha yes Lesley has excellent taste. She flailed about The Miseducation of Cameron Post with me too so you know it's good. ;)

OH NO THAT SOUNDS SO HARD. ;___; BUT YOU CAN DO IT MEG. Now that I'm back at Oxford it's just like one essay after another constantly and I'm just exhausted and I've only written my first two essays of the term. I've still got 14 left to go before I can get a break again.

I don't mind celery when it's been cooked down in soup so you barely know it's there, haha.

I've been to NYC once before and I LOVED IT so I can't wait to go again! AND YES HP THEME PARK I'M SO EXCITED AHHHHH.

      DON'T DIE MEG.
